Musical Instruments

Hypothetically anything that can produce sound can be used as a music instrument if the sound to be used in a musical context, however when most people use the term 'musical instrument' they are referring to devices which have been made for the purpose of a creating music. There are numerous different types of musical instrument available, some of which are unique to certain cultures and time periods. Some examples of popular musical instruments used by modern musicians include grand pianos, electric guitars, and saxophones.

Musical instruments are available from music shops, which will sometimes sell a variety of musical instruments or specialise in one type. Some especially expensive musical instruments such as grand pianos will typically only be available from specialist retailers. However, some very large of well established music shops may have some grand pianos in stock, although due to their expense and cumbersome size grand pianos are rarely seen in a typical music shop.

Musical instruments vary greatly in price, although since methods of mass production became common place most musical instruments are significantly cheaper today than they would have been years ago. Some instruments such as grand pianos have retained their value though.
